The setting of Rock and a Hard Place (written under my penname (Claire Embry) was inspired by my visits to Lassen Volcanic National Park.
Coming up with names for areas in my fictional August Volcanic National Park--like Goblin Valley, Devil’s Ridge, Incubus Peak, Demon River, Mount Hellion, and Diablo Creek--was a blast!
I'm grateful to live so close to this beautiful real-life place, especially when it's sweltering in the valley and we need to escape to the mountains for some cool, refreshing air.
