Tell me I'm not the only one...

Anyone else have posters of rock bands hanging on their walls? I still do actually. I’ve got 30 Seconds to Mars and Fall Out Boy in my office because…because why not? They’re framed, so I guess that makes them feel more “grown up.” Seeing Pete and Jared in their sexy guyliner makes me happy every time I walk into the room.

Anyway, this is just a little reminder that Crush 21 is on sale and will drop February 21st. So, pre-order your heart out!

Oh, and tweet me pics of your band posters! I wanna see which lead singers make you go weak in the knees...

Happy Book Birthday to Submersed!

💧

"Submersed was an ethereal painting of a woman underwater, her hair swirling around her, shrouding her face.

There had been some debate about who or what the woman was, but only I knew the truth behind what I’d painted..."

Judging a book by its cover...

"If you judge a book by its cover, you might miss out on an amazing story."

It's a saying you've probably heard a million times. And I've noticed that there really is meaning to it. A lot of my favorite books have the most ordinary/plain/downright odd covers. (I'm not going to post photos for examples because it's all a matter of opinion!) So, do you think this by design? Or simply a coincidence?

On the other hand, some books that have ah-mazing cover art are ones I've had a tough time getting beyond the first chapter. There have been countless times that I've looked forward to reading a book by a new-to-me author because the cover was gorgeous enough to make me want to frame it and hang it on my wall. And for some reason or another, the writing/story/characters didn't speak to me enough to read up to the last page. Is this something that you've noticed in your own reading adventures?

I think the same can be said for people, too. Have you noticed that some of the most beautiful/put together/confident people on the outside tend to be the most broken/ugly/messed up on the inside? Pretty deep stuff, huh?

Mo-ti-vate, honey!

😲

Wow!
My thoughts and wishes for 2018 were AWESOME!

From my blog on January 1, 2018:

Here are my positive thoughts and wishes for this brand spankin' new year...

You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. There have been rough times when you didn’t know how you’d ever survive, but you did. Somehow, someway, you managed to reach way down deep and push yourself through.

Use that motivation in other areas of your life. If there’s something you’ve been wanting to do but keep putting off—Do It! Set attainable, realistic goals and make the time for them.

Believe me, I know there's never enough time to get everything done. (I swear someone keeps pushing the hour hand on the clock forward!) You just have to find some way to make the time. Set priorities. Spend a little less time on Facebook and/or Pinterest (yes, I know it’s difficult) and focus on what you want to accomplish. Get rid of the “time suckers” in your life and spend that time doing what you want to do. Whether it be exercising, making crafts or trying out that new recipe (you found on Pinterest!) you’ve been dying to try.

You might be surprised at how good it feels to accomplish that one little thing. Hopefully, you can keep at it and that one little thing will turn into six-pack abs, a redecorated house or you becoming a fantastic chef.

I admit I’m a bit of an “all or nothing” kind of gal, so whenever I screw up it’s super easy for me to consider throwing in the towel altogether. But don’t! Keep going. Keep trudging along and before you know it, you won’t even drag your feet anymore.

Don't worry. If you slip up on your diet and exercise plan (it’s way too easy to do, isn’t it?) just start back up the next day. No matter what, Don’t give up!

Push away all negative thoughts. Every little bit helps :)

I hope you have a healthy and enjoyable new year!

Music with all the feels...

Looking back, I noticed that most of my blog posts tend to focus on music. I guess that just goes to show how big of a role music plays (pun intended!) in my life. Lyrics inspire me, melodies move me and I'm downright fascinated by the life of a rock star. The songwriting, the camaraderie, the life on the road while touring... It couldn't be more different than my own life.

Sometimes the simplest songs speak to me the most. For instance, Death Cab For Cutie's "I Will Follow You Into the Dark." This is one of my all-time favorite songs. And it only took Ben Gibbard about twenty minutes to write it!

Another one of my favorites is "Seaside" by The Kooks. It's only a minute and thirty-nine seconds long, but I love its sweetness and simplicity. Also, "Alibi" by 30 Seconds to Mars.

Don't get me wrong, I also love songs that feature full orchestras and choruses and love to crank up rock bands with screeching guitars and toe-tapping drum solos. As you probably already know, I'm a woman of many tastes and my favorites tend to span a wide spectrum.

In a world where a lot of popular songs are full of auto-tune and popularity is all about how many followers you have as opposed to genuine talent, I'll stick with the songs where a musician sits down with an acoustic guitar, sings from his soul and brings tears to your eyes.

I'm always on the lookout for new music--What are some songs that speak to you the most?
