Scary Movies (for people who don't like scary movies)

Fine, I'll admit it...

I'm one of those people who avoids scary movies at all costs. Whenever a scene plays that's even the teeniest bit nail-biting, I'm hiding behind my favorite throw pillow, willing it to be over.

Hubby can't help but laugh as I yell my frustrations at the TV and beg him to please tell me when the scary part is over. "Why is she going in there by herself?" I screech. "Why isn't she turning the light on?" I implore. "Who in their right mind goes into a dark basement alone???"

Since I'm all about new experiences and constantly pushing myself out of my cozy comfort zone, there are a few spooky movies I've tried and actually liked. I know it's hard to believe, but some of them I've even watched a second time. Yes, I still hang onto my pillow for dear life even though I know what's about to happen, but this girl loves being entertained and experiencing the thrill of all those little goosebumps racing across my skin.

So, if you're looking for some excitement this Halloween, let's hunker down on the couch together (I'll provide the pillows) and watch my favorites:

The Faculty
I absolutely love this one! It's actually held up pretty well for being 24 years old and I still jump at the scary parts. Plus, the cast is amazing. It'd be easier to tell you who isn't in this movie than who is.

What Lies Beneath
I was tricked into this freaky one by the beautiful filming location and I kept watching because I just had to know what happened. Did I mention it's freaky?

The Cabin in the Woods
This is the first scary movie I ever tried and I never would have if it hadn't been for my love of Buffy. The script (and the twist) is absolutely brilliant. If I'm going to sit through a movie that scares my pants off, I appreciate a little comedy mixed in.

I Know What You Did Last Summer
It's a classic, right?
Once again, I can blame the amazing cast for being the reason I watched this one...and absolutely loved it.

🎃

Well, there they are, the paltry few scary movies that I can stomach. Somehow, some way, they keep me coming back for more.

Are you a hard-core horror movie junkie who thinks these movies are too watered-down for your taste? Or are you a wuss like me? (And proud of it!)

Which movies would you add to this list? Let me know in the comments! I'd love to try out your suggestions--as soon as I work up the nerve...
